My name is Barry Neenan. Welcome to my author website.
Since childhood, I've had ambitions of getting my writing published. While I'm told* I have a talent for "serious" artistic prose, my real passion lies in good, thoughtful, fulfilling genre fiction. I was also the editor in charge of media criticism articles for the website Virtual Citizens, and, as part of my career in the Irish academic library sphere, I routinely produce more technical writing. Oh, and I dabble in poetry sometimes. I have things pretty well-covered, come to think of it.
My current focus is getting short stories published in anthologies and the like as my first novel accrues various rejection letters. You can find my work in the Flame Tree anthology release "Lost Atlantis", alongside a few short samples here on this site.
Any queries can be sent to barryneenan@proton.me - the dedicated email address for my writing. I cannot be found on TikTok, Twitter, Mastodon, Instagram, BlueSky, Hive, MySpace, Bebo, Bombadil, Reddit, or whatever Mark Zuckerberg is currently hawking.** That is, in fact, why I made this website. As the virtual skyscrapers of our promised future continue to rot and buckle, here stands a roadside shack built with love and scrap by someone with no construction expertise whatsoever.
